korea was rocking. the boys were... let's just put it this way... totally not won-bin-ny. lois and gloria (fellow korea goers) agree. the MEN on the other hand, were absolutely ethereal. lois and gloria dont agree. anyway i dont care for blogging about it. unless u want to be bored about the various spas things my brothers humiliated me with throughout the oh-so-FILLED-with-family-goodness trip. but one thing's for sure. second brother's in love. he bought light up hairbands and pink fluffy bunny ear-ed hairclips at lotte world. and i'm pretty darned sure it's not for himself, as he claims. well he DID wear it around. spas. totally.

unfortunately, i'm back safe and sound. i would've appreciated a little drama. but then again, not. NO, i DIDNT fall off the chairlift xianhui. thanks for your concern. my parents know better than to let me go on one! i hope you hadnt been having agony aunt chats with them lately. if i might say so myself, i'm rather glad that YOU didnt get into some freak accident or something while scaling the eiffel tower. arent we just bursting with love right now? but no, really. i'm kinda glad we missed each other because i sure as hell am gonna give YOU hell when we start living it up again!

oh for all the love in the world, rejoice. for i am grounded. it's my fault actually. i totally blew off something VERY important (well, according to my parents at least. although i dont see how i can get anymore holy by bumming around church) to hang out with resh and ruoqi and bel today. is there anything more important than hanging out with only the most wonderful people in the whole wide world? obviously they havent learned how to deal with the delicate internal balance (yes i got that from narnia, resh) of being a wholesome teenager. yes, like me.

and therefore, i am grounded (read: banned from going out with my friends). oh who cares, i've been grounded my whole life and i've never, ever ever stuck to it. the perks of living with seven other perpetually grounded siblings. who ever keeps track on the wholesome girl? hah. so i cant go out with bel tmr. coz dad knows it and he's gonna make sure i dont do it. but i'm gonna meet moses and daniel and jeremy at parkway tmr afternoon. when the twin terrors are at work. coz, well, they never said i couldnt go out with my "brudders". they just said "friends". so there.

now i know why my parents maintain that i think that i'm such a smart aleck, and that i should just film myself at work. oh well, i guess SOMEONE in the family has got to be the black sheep. which is so contradictory to my wholesome image. but huh, i really dont know what i'm talking about.

anyway narnia was rocking. and i mean totally rocking. i'm a huge fan. i've read the book only an upteen times. and watched the cartoon more times than there are days in my life. and the real thing just blew me away. the cinematography was oscar worthy. the slow-mo effects, the scenery, the right music at the right time, tense moments at the right time, blow-away moments at the right time. perfect. acting was also wonderful. lucy pevensie is the cutest thing since dakota fanning, even if i dont know her name. edmund was stunning. and by that i mean, handsome. large round eyes, little-boy-finally-grows-up vibe about him. and dont even get me started on aslan and the white witch. liam neeson has just the perfect majestic voice for aslan's role. and tilda swinton was the epitome of evil. oooh the creatures were totally cool too. the gryphons were smoooooking! bel and i were so: "that's us! that's us!" (excitedly) while gesturing at the screen like giddy five year olds. that was stunning, ladies. i do wish they didnt show the london bombing and sad predicament of the english families in during world war two though. i guess it is a prerequisite in showing how they came about to be at the professor's mansion in the first place. but it sorta ruined the mood for me. coz there is, kinda, a sadness looming over an otherwise fantastic show of fantasy. it got me all sort of historish and christian allegory-ist, and sorta missed out on enjoying the show itself. i mean, it IS kinda sad.

oh, sibling love. the other "moral" of the show. oh, heck sibling love. that's the kind of attitude i've always adopted to MY "kings" and "queen" at home. but i know that when it comes to the crunch, nothing beats sibling love. so, yeah, heck it.

resh is a retard. really. i love taking bus rides with her. because i get to see what an absolute retard she is. well, besides bitching about those things we love. what were they called again? yeah, sibs.

watching some competition between reality show stars. hilarious man. i love obnoxious people! then again, not really. hahahahahhahaha. she just got dunked! that does it. i hate obnoxious people. i'm cheering for the richard hatch and charla team. then the team with tina fabulous and gervase. i hate the coral team. ok dont get me. i dont get myself either. only resh will get it. my fellow reality show sucker! (oh speaking of reality shows, the linz siblings won amazing race!!! maybe bros and i have a chance after all =))

sorry for the excessive beeyatching, but parents didnt really put me in an amazing mood just now. my fault, yah. so to carry on. i am sorry, but i'm sick of all the mission things. i dont even have a normal life anymore! there was east timor project before. and when i thought it was all over, here comes nias/aceh project. and now, added on to the burden, there's cambodia. which i not only have to take part in, but LEAD too. i'm really not cut out for this. i mean, i appreciate that my parents want to build my character. but i'm seriously dying under the workload. and people who are IN the mission group only for the social factor arent helping AT ALL. i'm VERY sure that going to nias is "just like going on a holiday together, peeps!" shoot me. i really hope that you arent reading this, but it's just so ridiculous i must post it down.

me: eh... although the united engineers agreed to donate the water purifier, we still need to raise money to test it out and ship it over.
she: huh? cant we just carry it on the plane?

my gosh.

me: eh, i dont think so? (duh no!) we probably need to order a container to ship it over. do u guys know anyone who might have contacts to help us in this field?
she: i have lots of containers at home! how many do we need?

my goooooosh.

if only i had the heart to say that the container we need is probably BIGGER than her home.

i also hate how some youths totally miss the point of the mission projects. no, i really dont care if i dont get the credit, as long as our aim is fulfilled. aim meaning, actually bettering the lives of the people we're helping and achieving some sort of personal enlightenment. not scoring with the boys/girls/parents by putting up an altruistic front. that sucks.

and i hate how "youth" is really misinterpreted by the ambassadors themselves. i dont see why people "above" the "age limit" cant play a major role in our project just coz it's for youths. i've never said this but i'm saying it now coz i really dont care anymore. the chronological connotation of the word is only one aspect of it. i mean, if someone is 48 years old but young at heart, why cant she feel free to join us? even if he's 68 but raring to go, then i think that we should welcome him with arms wider and warmer than... ok let's not get there =)

i'm sorry that people dont really want to help because they genuinely want to help. i'm not saying that i'm not gulity of this either, being forced into the projects by my parents. but honestly, despite not being too enthusiastic about all of this, my intentions are real. which is more than i can say for.. nevermind.

anyway i must recount this korea moment for resh's sake.
-----------------------------------------
this segment is for you resh. seeing as you're a matinee idol in my household, we're all rooting for ya, love! so if you're not resh, this has nothing to do with you.

so mum and i were scouting for a husband for you in korea, seeing how you and anything korean are so compatible. so while we were waiting in queue for the mystery house ride at everland, this guy approached me and asked me where i was from.

guy: do you speak english?
me: yes
guy: so where are you from?
me: japan
dad (at the same time): singapore
me: erm.. i am from singapore but live in japan
guy: you speak it well!
me: heh.. ok.
guy: what's your name?
me: yuki!
dad (at the same time): deborah. this is deborah. we are from singapore. you want to get to know her?

he is so clueless. i see that the angela-parent-syndrome is more contagious than avian influenza (which is really really really serious, so i'm sorry for making a joke out of it). i think he's really afraid that no one in our sunny island will want to marry me. or rather, he's afraid that the only person that does is, well, peter.

me: no dad, he just wants to know where i came from! stop embarrassing me.
dad: you know what's embarrassing? you dont know what's embarrassing. i could've told him you came from your mother's womb and you wouldnt know what's "embarrassing"!
brother (asking tour guide, who is, "coincidentally", named yuki): how do you say "are you blind" in korean?
me: i hate you.
mum: the next time someone asks just say you're resh HAHA.
brother: there wont be a next time HAHA.

well, surprisingly, there WAS a next time. i was THIS CLOSE to asking yuki how to say "now, are YOU blind too?" in korean. it was at lotte world while we were queing for the egyptian ride. this group of guys were lining up behind us and i was totally "touristy" with my camera slung around wrist, bundled in thick clothes (INDOORS, mind you) etc. so one of them asked me

guy: where you from?
me: huh?
guy: speak english?
me: eh. yah.
dad: where are YOU from?
guy: i from korea!
dad: we're from singapore. you speak english very well.
guy: yes, we learn abit in school.
me: stop it dad. stop trying to be so friendly lah.
dad: ok. (turns around to talk to bros)
guy: so what is your name?
me: errr... reshvinder.
guy: again? i'm han jook (or han sook or han book or something like that)
me: errr.. i'm resh?
guy: resh?
me: YES. (turns back)
guy: your brothers? (gesturing to loser dudes who are chewing churros from each end- point being to meet at the centre. i dont get that. it's just gross. who wants to kiss his brother?)
me: unfortunately, yes.
guy: again?
me (gritted teeth): YES. (turns back)
guy: you give me your singapore phone?
me: HUH? no!
guy: no? (hands me his handphone)
me: HUH? (here you can see the evil glint in my eyes. types 6-3-4-4-9-1-0-3)

no, i'm not that despo. just wanted to complete mission of finding resh a korean hunk (or, at least, someone close to being korean). so i really hope that han jook (or han sook or han book or whatever his name is) isnt smart enough to figure out singapore's area code. or else, i'm really sorry resh, if someone called han jook (or han sook or han book or whatever his name is) calls looking for you. it didnt really mean to give out your phone number like that but, well, he WAS tall enough. and korean enough too.

i guess "love ya, loser" wont really do here, eh? i'm begging for my life darling, but you'll thank me for this man. you'll thank me when you have lovely punjabish-koreanish children named aryan michael and sorts, brightening up your household with tunes like "dont say maria"!
-----------------------------------------

YES! team gervase won this week.

sorry bel for ruining plans. parents are just so out of touch. i'm SO not getting dad that royce champagne chocs for christmas. i'll just buy a box and whack it with you the next time i go to your house ok pard?

anyway, parties havoc-ing. christmas shouldnt be about the lovely, many many many parties really. but sad to say, it is. thanks sandy. i really had a rocking time even if i stayed for barely more than two minutes (haha, okay lah, one and a half glorious hours). had to rush off to oh-LOVELY church. my favourite part was that bridge session where moses and i totally OWNED. swept all the sets man! he had the ace, king, queen, jack and ten of hearts. and i had the aces and kings of spades and clubs. grand whooping man!

leo, dont be a wimp and just give me that darned present.

have i ever mentioned how much i hate preparing for parties and decorating houses? well, now i have. a party is a party. like anyone will care if your have poinsettas and santas and decos adorning the vincinity. no one will care. parents are so out of touch. last year we made frosty. like two real, huge, life sized frosty the snowmen! except that he was a cotton wool/newspaper frosty. not a snowman frosty. it was hard work and thank god my parents have grown up.

i type entries too long for anyone's own good. i'm sorry bel but i'm full of.. feelings. "i just wish i could bake a cake made of rainbows and everyone would eat it and be happy" (ok i got that from mean girls). no, really. i think i just cant keep my mouth shut.

oh yah, one more thing. i dont get the censorship board. why the hell are they censoring brokeback mountain?!!!! it's impossible! ok, well, it's about two gay cowboys who have sex. but so what! what's so censor-able about that? the board is censoring the human body, which is a natural occurence. and yet allowing stupid violent shows like WWE and those kill here, kill there shows to screen all over national tv. this sucks! i want to watch brokeback mountain! no, i dont support homosexuality, i'm sorry. but i dont discriminate against it either. i think love is something that just... happens. and although it's scientifically proven to be unnatural, it's really hard i guess, if two men or two women just... love each other. and i want to see brokeback mountain i dont care! i think it's a really important show because it tells of the struggles homosexuals had to endure in the past. and i am such a tear-jerker junkie.

but the real issue here is: how dare they censor heath ledger and jake gyllenhall and those immaculate bodies!!!

and now that we're on the subject. i caught sir elton john's wedding on the news. i'm really not supposed to say this since i'm catholic and all.. but it was beautiful. and fun. and boy was it extravagant! i thought it was lovely =) well, until they showed elton john putting his hand around david furnish's waist. it was just, scary! well, i think sir elton is a wonderful man. really charming and fun. and he makes extraordinary music. he's got a crazy disposition and i love that. and although i dont support the lifestyle of gays, i dont think being one takes anything away from that great man. so there.

stupid brother is attempting his hand at cookies right now. which would be really sweet if he didnt come rushing into the room every five minutes asking what's wrong. first he forgot to add the sugar. no, really, who on earth forgets to add sugar? now his mixture looks like a pile of chocolate chip filled lard. so, he's calling sister-hotline, giving me an emergency that i MUST attend to.

adios, my darling amigos. and merry christmas to you guys. (eh tsb, you dudes, we HAVE to meet up really soon. there is a mysterious black hole in my house, which the korean goodies are disappearing into! i really dont know where it is. but we have to rescue them! plus, i really REALLY wanna delve into that artistically-described fudge on your blog, xianhuilim. and what's left of the jumbo hello panda, angelachan. not to mention that stash, bellim!)
